Interesting point about demonstrating “wealth” too - I grew up where The Cure and The Smiths image was student / no money / almost “tortured” “poor” artist was a badge of honour - I mean we did also have Duran Duran and Wham with their flashy videos right? 🤣 - I guess Hip Hop also influenced it right? The lyrical bragging-the “chains” the bling etc etc and the
90’s hedonism point is also spot on - when dirt poor Northerners got rich quick and became flashy sods! Thanks again for sharing - some good insights and I was also a winger (left) for my school rugby team - an indication of my running ability and (complete lack of rugby) skills 🤣🤣🤣
