This post reminded me of a line in Star Trek: Generations spoken by Malcolm McDowell's Dr. Soran character: "They say time is the fire in which we burn. Right now, my time is running out. We leave so many things unfinished in our lives..."
That line has always stuck with me since the movie came out in 1994 and every so often when I'm reminded me of it, especially in the midst of any existential crisis, I get further rattled.
Beautifully written Carre. May the vibes that inspired that reflection contribute to the last few songs. We are all special, and yet equally insignificant. Such is the beauty of life.
These words need to be on my Headstone, if my insurance would cover one large enough to fit them..if I die in the means for insurance to pay out the coverage. These words are so haunting...too true
It feels like the awareness of releasing the high expectations we have in our 20’s and dealing with the cards we are dealt in the second chapter of our lives. Hard and painful.
I bloody love this, it is like some part of my brain and some piece of my heart put into words but better than I could manage. I was so disappointed in the writing of some of my former heroes lately it kind of hurt in some moments. Apart from the fact that I think your talent is impressive, the part you wrote about not being impressed by the performance anymore also spoke to me on so many levels. Many things in my mind changed in the last decade, I am not starstruck anymore, it is all gone and I dunno where it went but I indeed appreciate sleeping cats and a pretty cake now a lot more. But: I very much appreciate you sharing your writing with us, it really speaks to my heart as much as a sleeping kitty. Much love to you Carré!
This post just makes me mad at the literary agent you mentioned in your last post. We really do need a book from you.
