the process: I've talked about my one-and-done writing/recording style a lot already, but those of you who are new subscribers can read about it here. Bad Temper was written in one take; it came super easily to me. However, at first, I didn't like the song and thought I'd end up cutting it from the record. Now, it’s one of my favorites. People who were at my last show saw me try it out live, and I think it went over pretty well…
update on the new record: Tchad Blake is mixing it! Fuck yeah. If you don’t know who he is, look him up. He’s a dear friend and an absolute legend. Total baller. He sent me mixes for 4 songs last week, including Bad Temper, and they sound amazing. I still have to find a label to get on board with releasing it, but I’ll just release the damn record myself on here if I have to…Is that what you’ll get for being a paid subscriber?! Only one way to find out…
update on the new EP: What new EP? Well, in this month’s group chat, we decided I should put out an EP of cover songs. Mostly because people seem to really want to hear my interpretation of Springsteen. So, this is the official announcement: A new Queen Kwong EP of covers (aka my take on songs by old white dudes) is going to be released via Sonic Ritual at the end of next month! Get fucking excited. Some of you know that I had a monster of an essay to post today, titled THE ROCKSTAR MUST DIE. However, for various reasons, I’m waiting to publish it until later this week. So, stay tuned.

When you do a song in one take, do you have to spend a lot of time later learning it and rehearsing it or do you just remember? I am still relatively new to making music and I find that when I go back to work on a track I am like, “who wrote this? I can’t play this.”
